2018-2019 PennDel Clinics
The PennDel YMCA Swim League Board would like to express our appreciation to the 260 parent volunteers from our member YMCAs who attended one or more of this year's annual PennDel training clinics.
Because YMCA swimming is a volunteer-centric sport, training is an essential requirement for being able to run a fair and safe meet for our age-group swimmers. We would like to thank those parents who took time out of the busy schedules to attend training sessions and who will be volunteering their time at various meets throughout this competitive season.
The PennDel Board held over 41 training clinics this year. Clinics were held throughout the PennDel geographical area. Clinics covered the volunteer roles for Administrative Officials (12 clinics), Referees (20 clinics) and Meet Manager operators (9 clinics) and were held during the months of September through November.
The clinics recap the rules and procedures associated with the parents volunteer role, provided new information (when appropriate), and reviewed various scenarios designed to help sharpen the volunteers' skills.
Our experience in requiring these clinics is that dual meets run smoother, have fewer timing errors, and are less likely to be protested by one of the coaches. In other words, the quality of the dual meets improve.
Our gratitude goes to not only the 260 parent volunteers who attended clinics this year but to ALL parents who volunteer their time, energy, and skills to YMCA Competitive Swimming.
