Swim Official Classes and PennDel Clinics

Swim Official Classes

Is your current Swim official certification expiring?  Or, are you new to swimming and want to get involved with your child's swimming sport?  Then, become a Swim Official.

Competitive Swimming relies on parent volunteers.  Although there are many roles a parent volunteer can fill, becoming a Swim Official has unique benefits: You learn the rules of the sport, you are on deck where the action happens, and you help your YMCA run consistent, high-quality and technically-correct competitions.

Members of the PennDel Swim League Board hold a number of certification and recertification training classes.  These classes teach the rules of competitive swimming and certify you to fill the role of a timer, stroke & turn judge (Level I), starter, and referee (Level II).  If you prefer to work at the timing desk, you can become a certified Admin Official (AO).

Get started today by registering for one of the upcoming YMCA swim Official classes.  Classes are listed on the front page of the PennDel web site at www.penndelswim.org.

Contact one of our trainers to learn more or to register for an upcoming swim official training class.

PennDel Annual Clinics

To help elevate the level of your skills after you have become a swim official, PennDel offers a series of annual clinics.  These clinics are designed to re-enforce important concepts, to review changes in the rules that may have recently occurred since you took your certification class, and to review specific issues that you will encounter in your swim official role.

The PennDel Referee Clinics are for current Level II officials who want to fulfill the role of Referee at a PennDel dual meet or Championship.

The AO (Admin Official) clinic is for currently certified Level II officials or certified AO who want to fulfil the role of Admin Official at PennDel dual meets and Championships.

In addition to the above clinics, if you run the Hy-Tek Meet manager software which records swimmer times and scores, you will need to take the annual Meet Manager Operator clinic to fulfil the role of MeetManager Operator at PennDel dual meets and Championships.

Note: These clinics are PennDel League specific are not part of the YMCA certification process.

To register for any of these clinics that are listed on the front page of the PennDel web site, please contact the designated trainer.

Scheduling a Training class or Clinic:
